Here is a good summertime DIY project. Rather than throwing away your broken outdoor chairs, you might be able to repair them.
This article by Blog With Mom talks about repairing chairs with fabric held on by cords. You can also buy rolls of woven polypropylene webbing that is then woven together to form the seats and backs of some types of outdoor chairs. The ends are usually held on by a combination of screws and clamps but look to see if the ends are removable before buying any rolls.
